Meetings Notes - August 11, 2004

August Meeting Notes

Our meeting was well attended at the Prince of Wales in San Mateo. There were some new members in the crowd. Tara with her 2004 Bonnie America, Deni with her 2000 Sprint ST and Ian with his 2000 RS joined us with their new bikes. Welcome aboard ladies and gents!

The talk was of this coming ride which is supposed to be an overnighter in San Luis Obispo. Since we have received little response from the members on having an overnighter, we have decided that this will be a day ride instead of the whole weekend. We will be riding towards Mission San Antonio via route 1. We will meet at CAL Triumph in Mountain View at 8:30 and leave approximately at 9 am. We will have lunch somewhere along the way, depending on where the group wishes to land for lunch.

Our second topic was the Doc Wong Rider Skills Day.

What: Rider Skills and Safety Day
When: Sunday August 29, 2004, 9am to 4pm
Where: Intersection of Skyline (Hwy 35) and Woodside Road (Hwy 84) otherwise known as the Alice's Restaurant area.

This event promises to be an event filled with fun, food, music, raffles, bike contests, shows, demonstrations, workshops, and seminars. The Life Flight Helicopter will be there to demonstrate their equipment; there will be various seminars on topics such as Riding Gear, Rider Skills, Suspension Setups, and Survival Tips on the Mountainous Roads, First Aid and the role of the La Honda Volunteer Fire Department. There will also be a bike show for custom bikes of all makes and sizes.

Donations will be greatly appreciated, for these donations go to the fire department, the very people that come and help us when we need it out there, so come on up to Alice’s and join the fun!

Another Event that’s forthcoming is the 2004 Cachuma Lake Vintage British Motorcycles Rally. There will be a salute to the Velocette motorcycles. This will be held on Labor Day weekend, September 3-6. Cost is $120.00 for the weekend.

Come and join us (OLD TRIUMPHS ARE WELCOMED AS WELL)!

That’s it for now. We hope to see you on one of these rides!
