Bay Area RAT

Pre-Meetings Notes - June 4, 2005

I’m hoping that your three day weekend was full of riding!

First, I would like to say that one of our packs members passed away on the 30th of May. Bob Hain, who was a mechanic and a member of the Regina RATS, very well known and funny too, has parted from us. His family asked to have a tree planted in honor of him, so The Bay Area RAT Pack is having a tree planted in honor of Bob in Regina Saskatchewan.

As for Cachuma Lake, There were many beautiful British bikes and lots of Triples, both old and new. The Rocket III was a big hit. There was lots of food and motorcycle chatter, and wonderful roads to be had. It would be nice to see more of the Hinckley bikes participate in the field events.

Well now, on to summer! As you know the Big Bear RAT raid is coming up June 10-12. For those of you who are attending, I wish you a great time. I believe you still have time to sign up for the event which you can do so by going to the Triumph events webpage.

The alternative ride will be June 18th, which will meet at Cal Triumph in Mountain View at 9:30 AM. We should leave shortly there after. For those of you who wish to have breakfast, you may wish to come earlier and go to the restaurant “BAJIS” down the street 2423 Old Middlefield Way. They open quite early and have a pretty good breakfast.

Our ride will be to Santa Cruz via the mountain roads. We will stop there for lunch if you for those who desire to.

On June 26th there will be a short ride, meeting at Alice’s Restaurant at 9 AM, going down to the coast, and then for a bar-b-queue in San Jose. This is a Sunday ride and also my birthday. It would be nice to see you there.

This is a mile stone marker for me so I would like to have a great ride and ride with the greatest group of people. Those of you, who wish to come over, please let me know, so the right amount of food and drink can be purchased. I hope to skip the traditional "Happy Birthday" song; perhaps someone knows a motorcycle song to sing?

YES!!!! SUMMER IS HERE!!!! So, ride safe and smart and enjoy your summer.

Pack Leader,

Maya Lai
